Interesting facts about the temple :
- One of the six abodes of Lord Murugan
- Pilgrims visit from many parts of world say America, Canada, Australia, Singapore etc
- This temple is famous for its annual kanda sasti festival (October month). This is a six days festival and on an average 5 lakh devotees participate in this festival every year.
- Famous for its panner leaf vibhuthi. It is said that the prasadam would cure many incurable diseases.
- Temple is located very close to the beach
- This temple is not affected by tsumani though it is located near beach
- Naazhi kinaru - Fresh water spring - Though it is located near beach the spring contains fresh water.
- Fresh water spring maintains the water level inspite of bailing out water
- Pilgrims took bath in naazhi kinaru follwed by beach bath since bathing in beach and naazhi kinaru are considered to be holy
